PARENT SUPPORT GROUPS
Meetings are held on a regular basis in communities throughout
Southeastern Massachusetts. Parent support groups are designed for
families of children with mental health, emotional, and/or behavioral
needs. Parent Coordinators facilitate these meetings to give parents the
opportunity to come together to support each other, to share ideas and
information, and to learn from professionals. They are also intended to
empower parents to negotiate state systems effectively and access high
quality care for their families through social and educational programs.
PARENT/COMMUNITY EDUCATION
Knowledge is empowering. Through workshops and community forums, PIN
strives to educate parents, professionals, and community members about
children’s emotional and behavioral issues. The staff at PIN work to
heighten community awareness about the struggles many families face when
raising a child with mental, emotional, or behavioral difficulties. PIN
encourages parents to become involved in local and statewide legislative
initiatives. This ensures a parent’s voice in improving the quality of
services.
ONE-ON-ONE SUPPORT
Parent Coordinators provide support through one-on-one meetings,
telephone contact, attendance at meetings, and application assistance.
We provide information about community resources according to each
individual family needs.
NEWSLETTER
The PIN staff publishes a quarterly newsletter to inform
families of meeting dates, special events, training opportunities, and

RESOURCE CENTER
The Resource Center includes information on services available in the
community. We provide high quality educational books, videos, audio
cassettes, and manuals on youth mental health issues. Materials are
